I love learning about ingredients that I’ve never used before. I’m cooking up some Mexican food in my house this month, and one ingredient I’m running across quite often are Ancho chiles. So I thought I’d learn a little more about them!
I’ve actually seen these chiles used in quite a few recipes, but I had never tried them myself. So I was excited when I bought my first bag, eager to get home and try them out.
- Ancho chiles are actually poblano chiles, but dried.
- Ancho chiles are the sweetest of the dried chiles.
- They are very common in authentic Mexican cooking.
