Green smoothies are starting to become “all the rage” now-a-days. Have you tried one?
We just purchased one of those blenders on steroids and have been experimenting with many different types of smoothies.
I really love the green smoothies! It is nice to be able to sneak in some vegetables for even more vitamins and nutrients! I have loved just throwing in any produce we need to use up! And, my kids are smoothie lovers, so it is nice to see them drinking up so many fruits and vegetables!
We have tried out quite a few green smoothies, but this one is by far my favorite at the moment.

I was first introduced to pairing fruits with meats when I was a little girl by my French grandfather. He would always eat turkey with fresh applesauce. So, as long as I can remember, our family has had fresh applesauce along with our Thanksgiving turkey.
I love to pair meat with fruit! It really helps to bring out the flavor of the meat, and it really tastes nice together.
If you are new to the idea, here are a few combinations to get you started…

I love interesting flavor combinations on pizza! Barbecue chicken pizza is a favorite of mine, I especially love mine topped with fresh cilantro.
I like to use gouda cheese on my BBQ chicken pizza. It really melts perfectly, and the flavor is top notch! And, if you are a grill master, you can even cook these on your grill outside to avoid making your kitchen any hotter.

I had quite a few blueberries I needed to use up the other day, so I decided to make a blueberry crisp. In the last minute, I decided to use up some of my ripening peaches in the crisp as well, and I absolutely loved them together.
There really isn’t a lot of things better than a nice warm dessert top with a scoop of ice cream, or in this case frozen yogurt.

Squash season is here, and many of us are wondering, what to do with all our squash?
I came across a great recipe to use up a lot of your summer squash. it really takes this sometimes bland vegetable, and makes it taste amazing in this quiche with summer squash, bacon, and gruyere cheese. Just serve it up with a some nice mixed greens and you a have a perfect lunch or dinner.
The gruyere cheese adds a perfect deep flavor and saltiness, and the bacon finishes it off. Even my children loved it!

One of my absolute favorite frozen treats is tart frozen yogurt with fresh fruit! In the last few years there have been many yogurt shops popping up here and there, but did you know you can make tart frozen yogurt at home? It’s actually really easy too! And, not to mention a lot healthier than other frozen treats!
This tart homemade frozen yogurt is high in calcium and protein, and also contains all the good live and active cultures! My favorite way to eat it is with fresh raspberries, and mangoes on top.

I have been taking advantage of the great summer vegetables that are in season right now, and have been adding them to all my favorite dishes.
One of my favorite things to eat for a quick lunch, or even dinner is pasta with fresh mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and all my favorite summer vegetables.

I love fresh peaches, and I have started seeing peaches pop up here and there! Peach season is one I definitely look forward to!
We have been taking full advantage of nice summer nights, and we have been preparing our dinners on the grill. Salmon is a staple in our household, and last night I made some yummy peach salsa to dress up our salmon and couscous dinner. This salsa would also go great with chicken, or some tortilla chips!

With the temperatures being so hot in most of the country, a nice cool treat is what we have been wanting in our house.
I love sorbet’s because they are filled with fresh fruit, and little healthier for you than ice cream. Plus, making sorbet is a great way to use up all the lovely berries that are in season right now.
This recipe is great, plus you don’t even have to have an ice cream maker to make it.

I made a batch of this garlic herb butter to put on some corn on the cob at my daughters birthday party, and I am obsessed.
I have found so many ways to use it the last few weeks. On corn on the cob, pasta, mashed potatoes, fresh bread, you name it! It really is that good! And, I have been able to use all the fresh herbs from my garden that have been springing up all over the place.
