If you are still looking for a great holiday treat to make, or a festive cookie to share with Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, look no further.

I just love the look of these cookies.  They just scream Christmas to me.  And, I love that the cookies are chocolate peppermint cookies.  A great combination.  And, of course the candy cane Hershey’s kisses just tops it off!

December 22nd, 2010 - by

My daughter is just starting to understand the concept of Santa Claus, so I have been thinking hard about what we want to leave out for Santa.  I have come across some great ideas!  Of course, the standard cookies and milk are always good – make sure you make Santa’s favorite kind of cookies! – but it’s also fun to think of some different treats to leave out for Santa.  Here are just a few suggestions!

ideas for christmas breakfast

December 17th, 2010 - by

Or brunch, if you prefer or get to sleep in.

Breakfast is the most important meal, and on Christmas morning it’s an extra special meal that starts off the day. It is easy in the busy-ness and hustle and bustle of that holiday morning to forget about breakfast almost completely. To help prevent you from resorting to cold cereal, the best way to have an enjoyable breakfast is to plan ahead, and keep it simple. Continue reading “ideas for christmas breakfast” »

how to: chocolate covered christmas santas

December 16th, 2010 - by

If you have been looking for a fun treat you could make your friends and family this holiday season, look no further.

I love these chocolate covered cinnamon Santa’s.   The combination of sweet cinnamon and chocolate is a favorite!   And, if you can find the cinnamon santas instead of cinnamon bears, it makes for a nice festive treat!

I love to use almond bark when I dip chocolate.  I have found that it creates a nice smooth texture when it dries.  But, you can use any melting chocolate you prefer.

recipe: candied citrus peel

December 10th, 2010 - by

I love citrus during the cold winter months. When we we aren’t using the leftover peels to create the smell of Christmas in our home (simmering it with spices in water on the stove) they are candied. These sweet, citrus and a teensy bit bitter candies are lovely to give as gifts, or to garnish cakes, or your table. To make an extra special treat, dip them in tempered chocolate. recipe: meringue cookies

December 8th, 2010 - by

One thing I always try to do is balance the cookies I put on a cookie plate during the holidays.  You want some cookies that are soft, some that are crisp, some that are chewy.  I think that the more variety you have, the more appealing the plate is.  That is just one reason why I love meringue cookies.  Not only do I think they are super delicious, but they are different than your other cookies and really add variety.  And really, they are pretty easy.

It’s true…yams are the loveliest color and they really are a pretty addition to the Thanksgiving plate.  However, not everyone is a fan of the taste of yams…are you?  If not, I have a delicious side dish that is the perfect replacement to yams–it’s called a carrot souffle.  I promise that after one taste, you’ll find yourself bringing it back year after year.

What kind of sides do you prefer at your Thanksgiving table?

I love a good variety of sides to go along with the turkey.  Sweet potatoes are a staple at most homes for Thanksgiving.  So, instead of your old sweet potatoes with marshmallow dish, why not try something completely different for your sweet potato side.

These rosemary and parmesan sweet potatoes are amazing!  The secret is to hit the sweet potatoes with fresh rosemary and freshly grated parmesan cheese just after they get out of the oven.   And, this dish will bring the most amazing aromas to your home.
