summer grilling: kabobs

July 14th, 2009 - by

Don’t let your grill go unused this summer, make kebabs! Kebabs are so versatile and so easy to prepare.  Add your favorite vegetables, fruits, and meats to a skewer and enjoy an easy meal this summer.  Get your kids in the kitchen to help put together dinner! Little hands can place the meat, veggie or seafood cubes on wooden skewers. (Remember to soak the skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.) Whether you want marinated chicken kebabs that taste fantastic hot off the grill or a fun way to get your kids to eat fresh fruit there are endless possibilities for your family to take a stab at.

at the market: temptation melon

May 21st, 2009 - by

At first glance, this beautiful, juicy fruit looks like a cantaloupe melon.  But your eyes would be fooled. This unusual fruit is an orange fleshed honeydew melon, also known as a temptation melon.  It is actually a hybrid between a honeydew melon and a cantaloupe. It has a smooth, thin yellow skin and a creamy orange interior that is both juicy and sweet – combining the defining traits of both melon types, though it actually tastes more like honeydew than cantaloupe. I spotted this delicious melon at Sunflower Market recently, and the smell alone peaked my curiosity. If your looking for a new and delicious find, pick one up and try it today!

So I baked them in the oven using my mini muffin pan and they ate every last drop. These are delicious!  You can mix it up anyway you like, add your favorite vegetables or use ham or sausage instead of bacon if you like.  Anyway you bake them up, your family and friends will devour them, I guarantee it.
