Phoenix Grand Opening Winners

On Saturday, January 7, we had a blast with all of fans at the Café Zupas Grand Opening party on 1935 East Camelback Road. With 50% off on everything, a new $25 gift card winner every 15 minutes, a $100 gift card winner, and a chance to win free food for a year, it was a great day to be at Café Zupas!
Earlier in the week, we also had a great time with residents of the neighborhood who came in to enjoy specials and more chances to win gift cards.

For those of you who hadn’t heard, our own Kelsey Nixon got her big break and now has her own big-time TV show.  In our opinion, no one has worked harder or deserves it more.  So we wanted to tell you congratulations and thanks for all of the great work you have done for Cafe Zupas!  The show is called Kelsey’s Essentials and it is on the Cooking Channel.  It premiered Nov. 7th, right between Bobby Flay’s show and Rachel Ray’s new show.  Go Kelsey!

We’ve been at it again in the test kitchen at Cafe Zupas. To offset the dropping temperatures, enjoy a warm bowl of Swiss Onion Soup. We spent days getting the creamy consistency just right along with pairing simple yet satisfying spices to create the perfect bowl of soup for a cold day.

Our creativity was put to the test with our newest featured recipe.  One taste of our Caribbean Pumpkin & Coconut soup and you’ll anxiously be waiting to finish off the entire bowl. This unique and inventive combination was an effort to recreate a soup we had in the Caribbean. It took a few different methods, adding & subtracting ingredients and perfecting the spice combination, but eventually we got it just right. This unique recipe exceeded our expectations in the test kitchen. Our African Chicken & Peanut soup is made up of a rich peanut base, hearty potatoes and is balanced by the perfect amount of heat. You won’t find another creation out there like this. It took several different tests to get the creaminess and consistency just right.  A good amount of fresh ginger is added for a refreshing touch.  The recipe combination comes together beautifully and is a contender for our top 10 list.

test kitchen: pineapple & sweet potato chowder

Our new and unique recipe straight from the test kitchen this week is a definite keeper. The combination of pineapple and sweet potatoes in a rich chowder is unlike anything you have ever had before. Our biggest challenge was creating the perfect amount of spice to compliment the sweet flavors of the pineapple and coconut.  After a few rounds of getting it just right, we knew that we had created a winner. The originality and incredible flavor in this chowder qualifies it as one of our absolute favorites.

Our Southwestern Potato & Green Chile has been a favorite in the test kitchen for a while now.  Every time we serve this recipe in our restaurants it’s a huge hit. After countless requests, it’s back! The creamy consistency and rich flavor is complimented by a hint of heat. It’s a perfect meal when topped off with crunchy tortilla strips. Because we have an active test kitchen at Cafe Zupas we are able to implement seasonal ingredients into our featured recipes. Our new Spring Asparagus soup went through several revisions until we got it just right. We complimented the fresh flavor of the asparagus with a creamy texture and a variety of spring herbs. A classic mirepoix of carrots, onions, and celery creates the perfect flavor foundation for the soup. The addition of the asparagus and herbs truly makes this recipe outstanding. Celebrate Spring with a bowl of our new Spring Asparagus soup!
